About Advicenow guides

Advicenow guides provide an attractive and readable introduction to common legal problems. We use real-life stories, quizzes, cartoons and top tips to get our message across in a magazine like format. Above all, we aim to produce good accurate writing that answers common questions and gives practical help on how to resolve problems.

Our shorter guides are produced in response to changes in the law or deal with issues that are in the news. We write most of these ourselves using our in-house expertise.

Our longer in-depth guides deal in more detail with specific issues. We select topics that get lots of queries on the website, or consult with staff in advice agencies up and down the country on the common issues they find in the course of their work. Our aim is to give more detailed information on these issues combined with practical guidance on what to do. We generally commission these longer guides from writers with particular expertise in that field.

Many of these detailed guides are available for free in PDF format. Download and print them out for easy reading.

If you have suggestions or comments about any of our guides or what you find particularly helpful, please use our feedback form below to let us know your thoughts.

This work is funded by the Legal Services Commission.
