ASA's Advicenow has produced a handbook for information providers. The handbook discusses the issues involved in the successful delivery of information to the public, draws together existing good practice from within the sector and elsewhere, and provides practical advice on techniques and procedures.

The aim of this project is to improve the quality of rights and legal information available to the public.

The consultation

Once you have had a chance to look at the handbook, please take part in our consultation to let us know what you think. We are keen to hear the views of as many information providers and people with an interest in information as possible. There are nine questions and we don't anticipate it taking more than 10 minutes. The questions focus mainly on the broader issues that are raised in 'Why produce better information?' on pages 3-18. 'How to produce better information' p19-84 looks at the practicalities of these issues in more detail.

The consultation will run until January 19th 2009.

What happens next

Following the consultation, a final version will be published in printed form and on-line. Workshops and seminars, and on-line support will also be available. Please get in touch using our feedback form if you would like to be at the top of the list.

The handbook will be independently evaluated after six months.

Thanks to Esmée Fairbairn Foundation and the Ministry of Justice for funding this work.
