Youth Access

Youth Access is the national membership association for a network of over 200 information, advice and counselling services for young people.

Youth Access believes all young people have the right to access age-appropriate information, advice, counselling and support services and promotes the development of such services throughout the regions and countries of the UK.

Members are primarily local voluntary youth agencies, but are also drawn from local units of large children’s charities, e.g. Children’s Society, local authority youth work units, Connexions Partnerships and mainstream advice agencies with specific services targeted at young people.

Organisations join Youth Access to participate in a national network which facilitates the exchange of new ideas, skills and knowledge, which in turn supports the development of nationally agreed policy on good practice and standards in youth information, advice and counselling work.

Youth Access:

  • acts as a policy focus for the sector
  • highlights evidence of young people’s needs for and barriers to access to services
  • promotes good practice in the establishment and delivery of services

Youth Access provides both its membership and other interested groups with the following services:

  • Regional and national training, conference and networking events
  • Publications, briefings and other resources
  • Information, advice and consultancy
  • UK-wide referral services for young people and their carers
