About us
Better information is run by the Advicenow project of Advice Services Alliance to provide a forum for discussion of issues relating to law-related information.
Advicenow is a project of Advice Services Alliance, the coordinating body for independent advice services in the UK. Advicenow is an independent, not-for-profit information service providing accurate, up-to-date information on rights and legal issues. Over the last few years we've produced over a hundred guides and features giving readers the knowledge and know-how to deal with scores of problems.
Advicenow are specialists in information provision and we have a wealth of experience working with government departments, voluntary organisations and frontline agencies. We have developed and tested strategies and procedures for producing successful information resources on rights, legal issues and other social welfare problems.
'Advicenow is the liveliest, least stuffy, most accessible and understandable website on legal matters that I've ever come across'
Marcel Berlins, The Guardian
Our resources are accessible and attractive. We don't just tell people about the law, we also acknowledge the stress they're experiencing and offer advice on the skills they need to solve their problem. We use a range of learning techniques to get the message across: clear, straightforward language, jargon-busters, case studies, diagrams, quizzes and cartoons.
We provide training in better information principles. We also provide a consultancy service that can help with any aspect of information provision or we can manage the production of your information for you.
Better information is funded by a grant from the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation and the Ministry of Justice.
