Help to deal with family problems

If you are thinking about divorcing, it is crucial not to overlook pensions. Could you help us make our guide to pensions better? If you are divorcing and going to use the guide please help us by giving feedback on how it could be improved. Get in touch via guides@lawforlife.org.uk

Get affordable advice about your child arrangements or financial order  - the solicitors on our panel are available for appointments via Facetime, WhatsApp,or the phone. See Getting affordable advice from a family solicitor via Advicenow.

If you are going through a difficult time with your family, we are here to support you through it. We recognise the hard reality that getting much help from a solicitor is financially difficult or impossible for many people. So we aim to help you with the knowledge, skills and confidence that you need to navigate your way through, to a happier future.

Our survival guides help you understand divorce and family mediation, how to agree how to divide the home and money when you divorce, and how to agree where the children will live and when they will see their other parent. If you really need to go to court about the financial settlement as part of a divorce or go to court about where the children should live our How to guides can help you through the process and reduce the stress and expense.

We also have help for people married or living in another country and unsure if they can get divorced in England.  We also have help for victims of domestic abuse to apply for an injunction, and know-hows that explain how to get legal aid for a family case, where you may be able to get free or low-cost family law advice or a reduction in the amount you have to pay for a court fee.

Lastly, we have a guide which explains child protection procedures in England. This is aimed specifically at Roma families but is useful for any parent who has social services involved with their family.
