On this page we will point you in the direction of resources that already exist in the UK and the rest of Europe to help you carry out public legal education (PLE) projects on discrimination and human rights issues.

Working Together for Advice (WTFA)

WTFA is a project funded by the Big Lottery Fund. It is a project with a number of 'strands' that provide a range of support services to independent advice centres in England:

Promoting Advice

The aim of the Promoting Advice workstream is to promote the benefits of advice services to those who need advice and to decision makers. It has produced a range of resources which agencies running a local equalities PLE project may find useful, covering for example: campaigning and influencing, working with the media, producing promotional materials and events and presentations. See the link on the right hand side to view the resources.

For Diversity Against Discrimination

Against Discrimination.' information campaign is run by the European Commission is funded through PROGRESS, the EU's employment and social solidarity programme. The campaign website offers leaflets, flyers, posters, statistics, case studies and a newsletter. See the link on the right hand side.

They have also produced a training manual: 'Combating discrimination - a training manual', which can be viewed by clicking on the link on the right hand side. This publication provides information and guidance for organisations' training to assist in eradicating discrimination across Europe, including what is required to do this and how to go about challenging violations of anti-discrimination legislation.

European Year of Equal Opportunities for All

EHRC - Information for advisers

It includes key equality and human rights legislation, informal guidance and Codes of Practice. See the link on the right hand side.

Public Legal Education Network (Plenet)

Of particular interest to agencies delivering projects on the ground will be the sections on PLE tools and evaluation. See the links on the right hand side.

The Office for Disability Issues

The Office for Disability Issues has a useful section on its website about making films accessible. If you are going to commission a film, you can make sure you reach all of your target audience by producing versions with subtitles, signed inserts in British Sign Language and audio-description. It has also produced a guide aimed at people who commission films and who want to ensure that whatever they produce reaches the widest possible audience. Making your films accessible
