When will we find out?
Children without a statement
If your child has not got a statement, you will receive your offer of a primary or secondary school place on the date published by your local authority in the composite prospectus.
Children with a statement
If your child is being assessed for a statement, you will receive the final statement (which names the school) eight weeks after you received the proposed statement. You have the right to meet the Named Officer and any of the experts who have written reports on your child after you receive the proposed statement. You might want them to explain the help your child needs in more detail or improve the wording in the statement, for example. Bearing in mind that if you ask for more than one meeting the local authority does not have to keep to the eight weeks deadline, you could ask them all to attend a single meeting.
If your child is about to go to secondary school, you must receive the amended statement naming a new school by February 15th. (This deadline does not apply for transfers between early years and primary education or transfers between schools at 16.)
