About the workshops
The course aims to give participants the basic knowledge and skills needed to deal with key issues for people dealing with homelessness and living in temporary accommodation.
The course will run online and consist of four modules which will follow the legal journey from homelessness to temporary accommodation to (hopefully) secure housing. Participants are required to watch a 30 minute introductory video before each interactive session.
Week 1
Monday 14th July 10am-12pm Housing and Benefits
Tuesday 15th July 10am-12pm Dealing with homelessness applications
Week 2
Monday 21st July 10am-12pm Living in temporary accommodation
Tuesday 22nd July 10am-12pm Bidding for social housing
It is important you are able to attend all four sessions as later sessions build upon the knowledge from previous ones.
You do not need to know anything about housing law to apply as these workshops are aimed at people with no formal legal training. The workshops will be delivered in English and accessibility needs can be submitted in the registration form.
We are particularly keen to invite participants who are community volunteers, members of a support group, a grassroots mutual aid organisation, or something similar.
Participants are required to watch a 30 minute video before each workshop.
The workshops are free to attend however, spaces are limited. We will prioritise participants from community/grassroot organisations who have not already attended one of our housing courses. Due to limited capacity, we will accept a maximum of two participants per organisation.
