Your letter has been sent to the email address you gave us

Please copy and paste it on to your journal or send it to the address on your sanction notification.

What happens next?

A different decision maker at the DWP will look at the decision again. This process is slow. If you have not heard anything for 6-8 weeks, you may need to ask for an update from the DWP.  For help on how to manage now see What to do if you have been given a Universal Credit sanction.

If the sanction is not overturned, please appeal. Most decisions are changed at the appeal stage because that is when an independent panel (not the DWP) look at whether the decision to sanction you was fair. Follow our advice on how to appeal a sanction.

If the decision is changed, congratulations! You will get your money back in the next couple of weeks. And, if you are given a sanction again, it will not be for the longer period.
