Can they take away my current award if I appeal for LCWRA?
Technically yes as the independent panel looks at the whole decision again to see if it is correct - but getting a lower award is not likely. If you are definitely entitled to at least the award you are receiving, you should not worry about this. See all our advice on how to successfully appeal a work capability assessment decision.
If you take part in a hearing, and the panel are considering reducing your existing award, the judge will give you warning and adjourn the hearing. They will send you an adjournment notice which should specify precisely which activities/ descriptors are at risk, and what evidence justifies this view. This is rare. But if it does happen to you, you could then properly consider and get advice, and withdraw your appeal if necessary. See all our advice on what will happen at the hearing and what you should do.
