This is a joint full day training between Advicenow, Project 17 and the Care Rights Project. This training looks at the support available under Section 17 Children Act 1989 and Care Act 2014 for migrants with no recourse to public funds (NRPF). It is aimed at professionals working regularly with these groups.

As a result of this training you will:

  • Gain understanding of ‘no recourse to public funds’ policy.
  • Understand what kind of support is available for destitute families under Section 17 of the Children Act 1989, for adults with care needs under Care Act 2014, and for pregnant people with no other children.
  • Understand the risks and exclusions.
  • Learn how to make effective referrals and assessments.
  • Explore common problems in accessing support (and how to overcome them).
