Don’t worry, many people miss this deadline. You can still ask for an appeal but explain why the delay was unavoidable. If you give a reason, your appeal will usually be accepted if it is within 13 months of the decision.

Good causes for delay include:

  • being too ill.
  • needing help or advice and not being able to get that until now.
  • being in hospital.
  • being too depressed or anxious to manage it until now, and plenty more.

For all our advice on how to give yourself the best chance of a successful appeal, see Appeal a work capability assessment decision.
